GAP YEAR CANADA

The Banff Team

We are a family run business lucky enough to call our home Banff. Our children have been on skis as long as they can remember, and are spoiled to have teachers that understand that some of the class might not show up on a powder day. Or, their parents might be dropping them off a bit early on those even bigger powder days!

After living, traveling and working on different sides of the world, we believe that to truly experience another country and culture is to immerse yourself completely. By living and working in another country you gain invaluable experience that will stay with you forever.

Each and every year we are continued to be impressed by the enthusiasm, independence and energy each person brings to the chalets, as well as the growth and maturity all of the group gain through the experience of living and working abroad.

Noel Martin, Director

Originally from England, Noel moved to Canada for University, worked in Vancouver (rode a lot in Whistler) and then moved back to the UK to work for six years, before returning to Canada.

After snowboarding for over 15 years, Noel continues to ride, and is a qualified Snowboard Instructor. He loves powder days and tree runs, and has taken up skiing again.

Nancy Myles, Program Director

Originally from Toronto, Nancy moved to Vancouver to be closer to Whistler on the weekends. After moving to the UK with Noel, she realized France was just too far for skiing on weekends and they returned to Western Canada. After working throughout Western Canada for the past six years, Nancy has hung up her work suits, and is much happier putting on a ski suit most mornings to get to her office on the mountains.

Tony Seligman, Chalet Manager

From Toronto, Tony was drawn to the mountains, and has called Banff his home for the past five years. Affectionately nick named “Snow King” by the 07 group, Tony is a level 3 ski instructor and Level 2 Ski Coach that powers through anything and is the go to guy to make sure all is well at your Chalet for the season.

Madison & Oliver

Olly and Madison are Nancy & Noel’s children. They are 8 and 10 years old and give the group the local lowdown on some of the more kid friendly things to do in Banff!

They know the best places to eat, places to shop, runs to rip, where the waterslides are, the climbing wall, hot springs, good hikes, best toboggan runs and more.

Madison is pleased as punch to get out on the mountain with the big kids, and is sure to become an instructor one day, while Olly is better at finding the crazy chutes for you. Once you have mastered a few skills you can follow him.

Sally

The family dog that loves all the walks, hikes, and attention she can get. Although really a big hairy Great Pyrenees, she prefers to act like a lap dog and is quite happy sitting in the window watching the action outside on the streets, howling at any dog, cat, deer or elk that walk by.
