Being locals here in Banff we can get you to the right gear swaps for deals on last year’s equipment to get you started for the season.

At the early season ski/snowboard swap you can get set up with a board/boots or skis/boots/poles for under $250, these should take you through the beginning of the season (rock skis or boards) and you may want to upgrade with new equipment later in the season as your skills progress.

Helmets:

Helmets are mandatory for all participants.
A weeks holiday might not require a helmet, but most Banff Seasonaires will get in well over 100 days on the slopes, which can increase your chances of injuries.

New Ski/Boarding Gear:

Budget approximately $700 although some are happy all season with their early season finds at the used ski swap and others can blow this budget and end up buying a few boards or skis.
